Subject:Inspection Services for Transit Village Project - Pleasant Hill BART Station
Station. Among other things, these documents
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
stipulate that the Redevelopment Agency will act as a construction financer of the BART
patron replacement parking garage, some required backbone infrastructure (streets and
utilities) and placemaking improvements (parks, plazas, greens and civic uses).
The Redevelopment Agency does not issue the permits or directly oversee the
construction of these improvements. BART oversees the garage and Public Works and/or
Building Inspection oversees the other public improvements.
Nevertheless, the Redevelopment Agency requires its own independent inspection
services to assure that requests for payments are appropriate, to review the merits of
requested change orders and to provide technical advice in the event of disputes. The
contract extension will allow services to be provided through the completion of the
project.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Contractor will not be able to complete the services under the contract, which will then
delay the completion of the Transit Village project.
