HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10122010 - C.65RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Redevelopment Director to execute a contract amendment with Community Housing Development Corp. (CHDC) extending the term of this contract to October 31, 2011, without change to the original payment limit of $300,000, to allow completion of the project. FISCAL IMPACT: No impact on the General Fund. The Agency's financial obligations are from budgeted funds. BACKGROUND: In collaboration with the County Housing Authority and Community Housing Development Corp. (CHDC), the Redevelopment Agency budgeted $300,000 to implement the North Richmond Youthbuild project. The program includes a variety of local partners who work with participants to help to alleviate several acute issues and needs in the North Richmond community. The project provides comprehensive training and supportive services to eligible at risk youth and young adults, ages 16 - 24, with a special emphasis on obtaining high schools diplomas and/or GED's. The contract is being extended to allow completion of the project. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Contractor will not be able to complete the training program for at-risk youth and young adults. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all four of the five community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: # 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”; # 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient”; # 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”; and # 5) “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families,” by providing comprehensive training and supportive services to eligible at risk youth and young adults, ages 16 - 24, with a special emphasis on obtaining high schools diplomas and/or GED's.
