APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee,
on behalf of the Workforce Development Board (WDB), to execute an interagency
agreement with the Contra Costa County Office of Education in an amount not to exceed
$143,330, for Workforce Investment Act In-School Youth Services for the period May 1,
2010 through April 30, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$143,330: No County Costs, 100% Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
(ARRA) Governor's 15% Discretionary State Bridges to Success Grant funding.
BACKGROUND:
This contract will allow Contra Costa County Office of Education to provide Regional
Occupational Program training and case management services to 100 In-School Youth in
West County. Services include vocational assessment, job and apprenticeship placements,
employment credentialing, career preparation services, job retention support, mentoring,
individualized program planning, and Foster Youth outreach, with a focus in the health
care, information technology, and environmental services fields. (#18-630-0)

In-School Youth will have less opportunity for job placements and career preparation.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This contract supports three of the community outcomes established in the Children’s
Report Card: 1) “Children Ready
for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for
Productive Adulthood”; 3)
“Families that are Economically Self Sufficient,” by providing employment opportunities
and job skills for youth ages 16-18.
