Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent on behalf of the Health Services Department,
to execute, a Purchase Order with Cellestis, Incorporated, in an amount not to exceed
$500,000.00, for purchase of laboratory TB testing reagents & equipment, for the period
from October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact. This is replacing an existing Purchase Order (#PH-710-10-36645) with
this company with the same annual costs ($100,000/yr). Funding sources are fee for
services from speciman submitters including CCRMC, Occupational Health, Chevron, San
Ramon Regional Med. Center and Children’s Hospital.
BACKGROUND:
Cellestis, Inc. is the sole source provider of TB Quantiferon Gold In-Tube kits and tubes,
which is necessary for TB interferon testing. Additionally, Cellestis, Inc. will provide
specialized equipment that allows for the testing to be automated as compared to the manual
testing that historically has been done. Cellestis, Inc. has been the provider of TB reagents
for testing by the PH laboratory although the new test and equipment requires a new
