APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Fire Chief of Crockett-Carquinez Fire Protection District,
or designee, to accept grant and execute funding agreement with the Bay Area Air Quality
Management District’s (Air District) Greenhouse Gas Reduction Grant Program (GGRGP)
in an amount not to exceed $133,724 for facility improvements at Fire Station 78.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total project cost of $ 187,701 will be funded 71% by GGRGP funds ($133,724) and
28% matching funds ($53,977). The required match will come from the Crockett-Carquinez
Fire Protection District operating budget.
BACKGROUND:
The Air District administers the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Grant Program (GGRGP) to
fund grants for certain categories of projects undertaken in the San Francisco Bay Area that
will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with priority given to projects near the Rodeo
Refinery. On June 2, 2010, the Air District approved an award to the Carquinez Fire
Protection District to fund Fire Station 8 improvements that are consistent with the goals of
the GGRGP. The Fire Station 8 improvements

include the following: installation of vending machine controller, fluorescent light fixtures,2
high efficiency central water heaters, and solar panels, and replacement of dishwashers and
boilers. The total project cost is $187,701, and the grant will fund up to $133,724.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to secure Board approval will jeopardize the Fire District's ability to secure the much
needed funding for said improvements. Specifically, the boiler is ready to be replaced and
this is an opportune time to do it with the available grant.
