FISCAL IMPACT: No Fiscal Impact BACKGROUND: On August 2, 2010, the Internal Operations Committee approved the recommendation of Thomas B. Hansen to Labor Seat #1-Alternate on the Hazardous Materials Commission. Mr. Hansen will complete a term expiring on December 31, 2010. The Hazardous Materials Commission was established in 1986 to advise the Board, County staff, the mayor's council members, and staffs of the cities within the County on issues related to the development, approval and administration of the County Hazardous Waste Management Plan. The Commission has 13 members, each with an appointed alternate. Terms for all seats are four years. The Internal Operations Committee reviews nominations to all seats except those designated for cities. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The seat on the Commission will remain vacant and, in the even the labor representative is unavailable, there will not be any representation on the Commission for this portion of the community.
