APPOINT Thomas R. Weber to the Appointee #1 of the Board of Supervisors seat on the
Aiport Land Use Commission, as recommended by the Internal Operations Committee.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact from this appointment.
BACKGROUND:
The Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) was established pursuant to state law in March
1971 to promote the orderly development of compatible land uses around each public
airport in the County in order to (1) safeguard both the interests of the general public and
the welfare of inhabitants in the area of the airport, (2) encourage the growth of air
commerce, and (3) protect the airport from the encroachment of incompatible land uses.
The Internal Operations Committee review nominations for two seats appointed by the
Board of Supervisors. Terms for these seats are for four years.
After conducting a recruitment, the ALUC nominated

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Thomas R. Weber for appointment to the Appointee 1 seat to complete the unexpired
term ending May 5, 2011. (See Attachment.) The Internal Operations Committee
considered and approved this nomination at its August 2, 2010 meeting. The IO
Committee, therefore, recommends that Mr. Weber be appointed to the seat.
