Subject:Renovation of Parkway Estates Tot Lot
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department is requesting $50,000 in Park Dedication funds to help
finance a variety of improvements to the Parkway Estates Tot Lot located at the corner of
Maya Way and Malcolm Drive in North Richmond. Planned improvements include
installing new landscaping, picnic tables, benches, trash receptacles, irrigation upgrades,
and a masonry perimeter wall. The total cost of the project is $148,500. The following is a
summary of the sources for the project.
$ 50,000 Redevelopment Agency
$ 48,500 LL2 Zone 63
$ 50,000 Park Dedication Trust Fund
The North Richmond Municipal Advisory Council has approved Public Works’ request to
access park dedication funds, and there are sufficient funds in the North Richmond Park
Dedication Trust Fund account to meet this request. It is the policy of the County to utilize
park dedication funds to meet local park needs, including making improvements to existing
parks. This action is consistent with that policy.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The park will depreciate and no longer be an asset to the community
