Subject:Accept contributions for Meals on Wheels
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
of public and private nonprofit organizations, founded in 1990 by two County managers,
from the Health Services and Employment and Human Services Departments, to develop an
on-going stable private funding source for Meals on Wheels services in our county, thus
bridging the gap between available government program funding, and the growing
homebound elderly population in Contra Costa County who need Meals on Wheels.
With these contributions, Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa, Inc. will have donated a total of
$4,444,420 to the program since 1990, to subsidize approximately 2,086,000 daily meals
and 79,368 emergency meals delivered to the residences of homebound elders throughout
Contra Costa County.
