HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09212010 - C.44RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution No. 2010/461 approving and authorizing the District Attorney, or designee, to submit an application and execute a grant award agreement, and any extensions thereof pursuant to State guidelines, for the California Emergency Management Agency, Underserved Victim Advocacy and Outreach Program grant, in an amount not to exceed $625,000 for continued support and advocacy of underserved victims of crime for the period October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: $625,000 revenue. 75% State, 25% County in-kind match; Not included in the 2010/11 operating budget. The District Attorney will receive a grant award of up to $125,000 per year for five years. This funding requires a 25% in-kind match but allows agencies to request a waiver for the match. The District Attorney's office has requested a waiver and will decline the funding if the waiver is not granted. Kochly, District Attorney Date:September 21, 2010 Contra Costa County Subject:Underserved Victim Advocacy and Outreach Program Grant BACKGROUND: The Underserved Victim Advocacy and Outreach Program is supported by Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Assistance and is authorized by the Victims of Crime Act of 1984, as amended. The primary goal of the program is to enhance the safety of unserved/underserved victim populations in California by establishing victim advocacy positions solely dedicated to the unserved/underserved population, coordinate direct services in an enhanced response to victimization of specific crime populations among locally involved agencies and implement an outreach awareness program to the specific population determined as unserved/underserved. This grant will fund 1.5 FTE Victim Witness Program Specialists to provide services to the designated unserved/underserved victim population.
