HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09142010 - C.122RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #74–181–11 with Bay Area Community Resources, Inc., a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $345,433, to provide drug abuse prevention and treatment services, for the period from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 65% by Federal Primary Prevention Set-Aside, 9% by State Comprehensive Drug Court Implementation (CDCI), and 26% by California Emergency Management Agency – Justice Assistance Grant Offender Treatment Program (CAL EMA JAG-OTP). Increases in rates for individual counseling for Adult Drug Court and JAG are offset by decreases in group counseling and prevention rates. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) prevent or recover from the effects of alcohol or other drug use, become self sufficient, and return to their families as productive individuals. On July 21, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74–181–9 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #74–181–10) with Bay Area Community Resources, Inc. for the period from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010, for the provision of drug abuse prevention and treatment services. Approval of Contract #74–181–11 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2011. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This Alcohol and Other Drugs program supports the following Board of Supervisors’ community outcomes: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing” and “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families” community outcomes by providing substance abuse education and prevention services. Expected outcomes include increased knowledge about the impact of addiction; decreased use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; increased use of community-based resources; and increased school and community support for youth and parents in recovery.
