HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09142010 - C.113RECOMMENDATION(S): AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order renewal with Cardinal Health, in an amount not to exceed $13,927,880, for the purchase of pharmaceuticals and related supplies at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period of September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: Total cost of the blanket purchase order is $13,927,880. BACKGROUND: Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers has used Cardinal Health as its drug wholesaler for over 20 years. We are satisfied with them as a vendor and wish to continue our working relationship with this company. Cardinal provides us with 2 different purchasing contracts: Novation for the hospital and the Public Health System contract for 340B pricing (federal sub-ceiling pricing for disproportionate share facilities) for ambulatory care. Having these 2 contracts maximizes cost savings for the county.
