APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Risk Manager to execute a contract with Environmental
and Occupational Risk Management, Inc. to provide professional on-site environmental
health and safety consulting support effective July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 in an
amount not to exceed $485,865.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Costs for will be funded 63% through the Workers' Compensation Internal Service Funds
and 37% through charges to user departments.
BACKGROUND:
Environmental and Occupational Risk Management, Inc. is a consulting firm consisting of
staff possessing specialized technical skills in areas such as indoor air quality, infectious
disease control, industrial hygiene as well as general and environmental compliance.
Consulting services have assisted in dealing with Occupational Safety Health
Administration (OSHA) compliance inspections and responses on behalf of our departments.

specialists also assist with the following:
• Facility and program assessments requested by specific departments, as well as ergonomic
and air quality investigations;
• Development and distribution of federal and state required safety and training tools,
continued training of loss control coordinators, and assisting in the implementation of
safety/loss control programs for our departments;
• Department requests regarding research and interpretation of federal, state and local health
and safety regulations; and
• On-site First Aid/CPR/AED Training for County employees.
The County was able to negotiate reduced billing rates ranging from 5%-39% for fiscal year
2010-11.
