Subject:Contract between Treasurer-Tax Collector and State of California Employment Development Department
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
expanding its efforts to locate delinquent personal property taxpayers who have moved
from their billing address. Once a taxpayer moves from Contra Costa County, it is
difficult to track the person. The EDD contract will provide current data that will allow
the Tax Collector information needed in our collections activity. The State of California
Employment Development Department's records of employment can provide the
information needed to locate many of the delinquent taxpayers. Given a correct physical
address, our Collections Department will be able to collect money owed and increase
revenues.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Not approving the contract restricts the Tax Collector in collection activities, thus
limiting possible additional revenues.
