HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09142010 - C.73RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Librarian, or designee, to apply for and accept a grant
from the Rodeo Municipal Advisory Committee in an amount not to exceed $9,686 to
provide 6 additional hours per week of library service for the period December 1, 2010
through June 30, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No library fund match.
BACKGROUND:
The County currently funds eighteen weekly hours of library service in Rodeo. This has
been reduced to twelve hours per week to make up for anticipated funds that were spent but
not received in 2009/10. It is anticipated that the hours will increase to eighteen weekly
hours on December 1, 2010. RMAC funds would pay for six additional hours of service per
week for the part of the current fiscal year from December 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.
The Contra Costa County Library will no longer cover the cost for the extended hours at the
Rodeo Library until its pending grant request to the RMAC is approved. The Library will be
able to extend the hours from 18 to 24

per week only after the grant request is approved. This grant application is requesting
$9,686.00. The requested funds would continue evening operations twice weekly, and
would also allow the library to be open two extra hours each Saturday. The library
recognizes that library users have diverse schedules, and it is our goal to serve those whose
daily commute and work schedules do not let them visit the library during weekdays.
