HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08102010 - C.72RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Auditor-Controller, on behalf of the Employment and Human Services Department, to pay the amount of $550 to Target Stores, Inc. for the purchase of 22 Target Gift Cards (22 cards @ $25 each) to use as incentives for the Service Integration Team Nystrom Involving Parents Program as allowed under the Local Initiative Support Corporation grant. FISCAL IMPACT: $550 100% Local Initiative Support Corporation grant funding. (No County match) BACKGROUND: Pursuant to Administrative Bulletin #615, dated December 10, 2009, Board of Supervisors authorization must be obtained prior to the purchase of program incentives such as gift cards. The Employment and Human Services Department, Service Integration Program, purchased 22 gift cards at $25 each to use as incentives for the Service Integration Team program participants. The Department is now requesting retroactive approval for the purchase. The gift card incentives encourage parents to complete the non-violence training program, learning to keep children safe, addressing both family and community violence. With parent and family knowledge, support and encouragement, the program will provide assistance to keep children safe, succeed in school, and reduce the violence in their lives their community. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The program and gift card incentives support four (4) of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card, 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and, 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families"
