Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract #26-958-10 with Muir Orthopaedic Specialists, a Medical Group,
Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $510,000, for the provision of professional
orthopedics services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa
Health Centers, for the period August 1, 2010 through July 31, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise I Funds. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate,
patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services.
BACKGROUND:
For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical and Dental Specialists to
provide specialized professional services which are not otherwise available in its hospital
and health center.
Under Contract #26-958-10, Muir Orthopaedic Specialists, a Medical Group, Inc. will
provide orthopedic services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa
