HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08102010 - C.47RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Haven Fearn), to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #24–513–41 with New Connections, a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $793,083, to provide substance abuse prevention, intervention and treatment services, for the period from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 49% by Federal Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) Block Grant, 32% by Drug Medi-Cal, 6% by State Drug Court Implementation funds, and 13% by State Justice Assistance Grant/Offender Treatment Program. There are no increases in the rates. On September 16, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24–513–39 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #24–513–40) with New Connections, for the period from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010, for the provision of drug abuse prevention and treatment services in East and Central County. Approval of Contract #24–513–41 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2011. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This Alcohol and Drug Abuse prevention and treatment program supports the Board of Supervisors’ “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing” and “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families” community outcomes by providing individual, group, and family counseling; substance abuse education; rehabilitation support services; and substance abuse prevention services. Expected outcomes include increased knowledge about the impact of addiction; decreased use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; increased use of community-based resources; and increased school and community support for youth and parents in recovery.
