Lango, General Services Director Date:August 10, 2010 Contra Costa County Subject:Amendment No. 1 to the As-Needed Architectural Services Agreement with RMW Architecture and Interiors BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Remodel and Expansion. With these two project assignments, the full contract value has been reached. The former Family Practice Clinic was located in a deteriorating building on the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (“CCRMC”) campus. This facility was recently demolished. The Health Services Department (“HSD”) received a Health Resources and Services Administration (“HRSA”) grant to partially fund the cost of a new out-patient clinic to be located on existing Parking Lot “A.” RMW had designed a new 7,500 square foot clinic with a prefabricated modular building approach. After several rounds of pricing validation, it was determined that a conventionally built facility would offer more flexibility at a comparable price. HSD requested that the design be modified to accommodate a conventionally built facility. Additional services are needed from RMW to modify the design and to develop the construction documents in preparation for bidding. The Concord Clinic Remodel and Expansion project involves adding approximately 1,300 square feet and remodeling existing spaces to accommodate additional exam and treatment rooms. The project is currently in the plan check and permitting stage. It is recommended that RMW’s contract amount be increased by $250,000 to cover the additional services related to the Martinez clinic project and for any unforeseen circumstances that may arise on the Concord clinic project.
