Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20821 to add one (1) permanent full-time
Pharmacist I (VYWA) position at salary level QT5 1998 ($7725.46 - $8943.18) in the
Health Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The annual cost is approximately $167,422.00 which is offset by Federal Information
Technology Revenues.
BACKGROUND:
The Health Services Department is requesting to add a permanent full-time Pharmacist I
position in the Pharmacy Division of the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and its
Health Centers . The new position will be dedicated solely to the implementation of a new
electronic Pharmacy computerized system, and responsible for all modules - Bedside
Medication Verification (BMV), Medication Administration Record (eMAR), and the
Computerized Physician Order Entry - electronic dispensing and order entry of medications.
This new system will decrease medication errors and improve patient safety.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, the Pharmacy Division will not have sufficient staff to meet
its operational needs, which impacts patient care services and delay the implementation
of the new computerized system.
