DECLARE vacant the Trustee 3 seat on the Byron-Brentwood-Knightsen Union Cemetery
District previously held by Carlos Taborini due to resignation, and DIRECT the Clerk of
the Board to post the vacancy, as recommended by Supervisor Mary Nejedly Piepho.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
BACKGROUND:
The Byron-Brentwood-Knightsen Union Cemetery District is a property tax and
fee-supported organization that provides efficient and dignified burial services; year-round
maintenance; and preservation of interment plots. (Interments are restricted to residents and
taxpayers of the cemetery district boundaries and their immediate family members).
The Cemetery is governed by a three-person Board of Trustees. Board Members are
appointed by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors. The Union Cemetery District
lies primarily in the Third Supervisorial District, while a small portion of it lies within

Carlos Taborini notified Supervisor Piepho's office of his resignation to the
Byron-Brentwood-Knightsen Union Cemetery District, effective July 26, 2010.
