APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Department director, or
designee, to execute a contract to accept funding from California Department of Education
in an amount not to exceed $27,500 to support prekindergarten and family literacy program
support services during the term July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% State funding
No County match
State: CPKS 0008/ CCC: 39-896-3
BACKGROUND:
California Department of Education notified the Department on July 21, 2010 of the
2010-11 funding allocation for prekindergarten and family literacy support services.
Approval of this revenue contract will provide support funds for prekindergarten family
literacy services to program eligible children and families.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports
three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and
Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and,
Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved
by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
