HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08032010 - SD.4RECOMMENDATION(S): CONSIDER approving response to Grand Jury Report No. 1008, entitled "County Elder Services Facing Life Support" and DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to forward response to the Superior Court no later than August 20, 2010. FISCAL IMPACT: None. BACKGROUND: No May 23, 2010 the 2009/10 Civil Grand Jury filed the above-referenced report, which was reviewed by the Board of Supervisors and subsequently referred to the County Administrator for response. The County Administrator worked with the Employment and Human Services Department who prepared the attached response that clearly specifies: Whether a finding or recommendation is accepted or will be implemented;1. If a recommendation is accepted, a statement as to who will be responsible for implementation an by what definite target date; 2. A delineation f the constraints if a recommendation is accepted but cannot be implemented within a six month period; and 3. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: CLERK'S ADDENDUM APPROVED with language modifications of today to: a) Insert a statement into the response to Recommendation 3 to clarify that face-to-face case work has been reduced not eliminated; b) insert “continue to” into the response to Recommendation 4 that it read “The Board of Supervisors will continue to review funding needs for the IHSS program in conjunction with the funding needs of other County funded programs.” ATTACHMENTS Grand Jury Report 1008 Response to Grand Jury Report 1008
