HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07272010 - C.25RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Service Director, or designee, to apply for and accept Hedge Fund Cares grant funding in an amount not to exceed $40,000 for the Enhanced Visitation Program for the period of July 1, 2010 through June 30 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: $40,000 County to receive up to $40,000 from the Hedge Fund Cares grant. No County match. BACKGROUND: The Employment and Human Services Department, Children and Family Services Bureau, Enhanced Visitation Program will provide supervised visitation opportunities in East, West, and Central Contra Costa County through community-based, family visitation centers. The primary goal of the program is to improve reunification outcomes for children and families involved in the Child Welfare System. The primary activities will include: providing a safe, natural family-friendly environment for supervised visitation; observing parent-child interaction during the supervised visits; modeling appropriate parent-child interaction; documenting the services provided; and, consulting with the assigned Children and Family Services Bureau staff. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The grant funding will support two of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card, 4) " Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing" and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families" by encouraging and modeling behaviors that will encourage successful family reunification.
