(Cost savings) FISCAL IMPACT: Over-time this reallocation will be cost neutral. Initially it is anticipated that there will be cost savings due to the addition of two lower steps. There is an annual difference between the first steps of the Human Resources Consultant and the Employee Benefits Specialist classifications of $7,000. BACKGROUND: As a result of the recent retirement of a Human Resources Consultant in the Employee Benefits Unit, the department reviewed and reevaluated staffing needs. After review, it was decided that a better duty fit for the position would be an Employee Benefit Specialist.
