APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Department Director,
or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Cambridge Community Center to
increase the payment limit by $63,355 to a new payment limit of $419,143 with no change
to term July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.

BACKGROUND:
The County receives funds from California Department of Education for state preschool
services. Cambridge Community Center is one of the community-based agencies with
which the Department partners to provide a wider distribution of services. The Department

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department’s
Head Start program supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes -
Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are
Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and
Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including
high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children
throughout Contra Costa County.
