program services for the term July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.

BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa County receives funds California Department of Education (CDE) to provide
State Preschool and General Childcare and Development program services to
program-eligible County residents.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
to provide a wider distribution of services to County residents, the Department contracts
with a number of community-based organizations. Approval of this contract will allow the
provision of preschool and general childcare and development services to children in the
east Contra Costa County region.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports
three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and
Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and,
Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved
by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
