Approve and Authorize the Librarian, or designee, to apply for and accept grants in the
amount of $7,200 from the Pacific Library Partnership for books and other material for the
period July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No library fund match.
BACKGROUND:
The Pacific Library Partnership (PLP) is a consolidated regional system of libraries in the
Bay Area, Peninsula, Monterey Bay, and Silicon Valley areas. The purpose of the regional
system is to improve the services of its constituent member libraries by maintaining existing
CLSA (California Library Services Act) programs, leading research and development
efforts to ensure that libraries are best positioned to respond to demographic, economic, and
cultural changes through innovative and collaborative approaches to programming and
services and the enhancement of collective resource building and sharing.
In recognition of the challenging times member libraries are facing, PLP has funded a grant

of up to $750 each to assist member libraries in providing activities, services and collections
that would be of value to library users but cannot be funded in the current economic
environment.
The library is applying for the following grants:
Bay Point Library: $600 for games, books and prizes
Brentwood Library: $750 for meeting room rental for library programs
Crockett Library: $750 for adult books
Dougherty Station Library: $750 for pictogram holders to assist ESL and disabled customers
Hercules Library: $750 for auto repair manuals
Kensington Library: $750 for adult books
Pittsburg Library: $600 for games, books and prizes
Rodeo Library: $750 for adult books
San Pablo Library: $750 for GED books in English and Spanish
San Ramon Library: $750 for pictogram holders to assist ESL and disabled customers
