Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner,
M.D.), to execute, on behalf of the County as follows:
A. Agreement #28-528-40 with the County of Alameda, to pay County an amount not to
exceed $1,429,224 for coordination of essential services to Contra Costa County residents
with HIV Disease and their families, for the period from March 1, 2010 through February
28, 2011; and
B. To purchase emergency medical transportation vouchers in the amount of $6,000 and
emergency food cards in the amount of $2,000 for people living with HIV and AIDS.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this agreement will result in a total of $1,492,224 from the County of Alameda,
as the Grantee of federal funds under the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Modernization
Act of 2006, Part A and the purchase of transportation vouchers in the amount of $6,000
and emergency food cards in the amount of $2,000. No County match is required.

Subject:Approval of Contract #28-528-40 with the County of Alameda
BACKGROUND:
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has designated the County of Alameda
as “Grantee” for the purpose of administering the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment
Modernization Act of 2006, Part A, funds for coordination of essential services to Contra
Costa County residents with HIV Disease and their families.
On June 3, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #28-528-38 (as amended by
Amendment Agreement #28-528-39) with the County of Alameda, as the fiscal agent for
Ryan White CARE Act, Title I and Minority AIDS Initiative funds, for coordination of
services to Contra Costa residents with HIV disease and their families, for the period from
March 1, 2009 through February 28, 2010. Approval of Agreement #28–528–40 continues
funding for these services through February 28, 2011, including mutual indemnification to
hold harmless both parties for any claims arising out of the performance of this contract.
A portion of this agreement includes the purchase of $6,000 in emergency transportation
vouchers and $2,000 in emegency food gift cards by the County for distribution to clients.
