HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07132010 - C.80RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Haven Fearn), to execute and transmit an application #29-521-1 to the Alcohol and Drug Programs’ Office of Criminal Justice Collaboration for the Drug Court Implementation (CDCI) for funding in an amount not to exceed $386,404 for the County Alcohol and Other Drugs Services Division Adult and Juvenile Drug Court Programs, for the period January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: Submission of this Application will result in $386,404 from the State of California Alcohol and Drug Programs’ Office of Criminal Justice Collaboration funds to provide alcohol and drug treatment services for Juvenile and Adult Drug Court clients. The Drug Court programs represent the coordinated efforts of justice and treatment professionals to actively intervene and break the cycle of substance abuse and crime by offering treatment instead of incarceration to both youth and adults. This program also provides incentives to participants who successfully make progress in Drug Court. Approval of Application #29-519-1 will allow eligible participants to attend weekly court appearances and substance abuse treatment, as well as submit to random drug testing. The funding will enable Alcohol and Other Drug Services to fund treatment services for drug court eligible participants during the period January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011, approval of board order resolution is required back to the State as soon as possible.
