HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07132010 - C.25RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Fire Chief of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, or designee, to execute a contract with RJN Incorporated (dba H & N Enterprises) in an amount not to exceed $300,000 annually for weed abatement services, for the period July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: Annual cost of the abatement contract is estimated at $300,000. All work orders processed under this contract would be billed back to the responsible property owner in the form of a lien on the property with funds recovered through the property tax collection process. BACKGROUND: The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District notifies property owners within the Fire District of fire hazards related to dry grass, weeds, combustible rubbish and other fire hazards identified on their property. The property owner is given a specified amount of time to remove the hazard. If they do not comply, a work order is given to the Fire District contractor to do the work. This contract will provide the Fire District with the means to abate hazards through the work order process.
