HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06222010 - C.78RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract with San Francisco Estuary Institute in the amount of $155,218 to provide water quality monitoring services at the North Richmond Pump Station, effective June 22, 2010, through June 22, 2013, Richmond area. (100% 2009 San Francisco Bay Area Improvement Fund grant program funds) FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact to the general fund. All costs will be paid with 2009 San Francisco Bay Area Improvement Fund grant program funding. BACKGROUND: Contra Costa County was awarded a grant by San Francisco Estuary Project (SFEP) that is to be funded by the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s 2009 San Francisco Bay Area Improvement Fund (SFBAIF) to divert stormwater from the North Richmond Pump Station to the West County Wastewater District (WCWD) for treatment. Project No. 7517-6W7246 BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) if the stormwater can then be diverted to WCWD’s treatment facilities. San Francisco Estuary Institute will provide water quality monitoring and related services for this project. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Contra Costa County Public Works Department will be unable to implement the grant program without first conducting water quality monitoring. If this task is not successfully completed, it will result in the inability to successfully meet the provisions of the SFEP Grant Agreement with the County, and in turn forfeiting the grant monies awarded to the County.
