HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06222010 - C.73RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Interim County Probation Officer, or designee, to execute a contract with Behavioral Interventions, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $375,000 for electronic monitoring of certain juvenile offenders for the period July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: $375,000. Contract amount is partially offset by fees assessed to juvenile offenders. Fees are assessed using a sliding scale; fee recovery is difficult to measure. The funding was originally generated from savings produced by using Juvenile Electronic Monitoring as an alternative to Juvenile Hall detention. BACKGROUND: In May 2007, the Purchasing Division of the General Services Department completed a bid process for electronic monitoring services on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office and the Probation Department. Behavioral Interventions, Inc. provided the best combination of price, service and equipment resulting in a three-year service contract. This contract would continue electronic monitoring services for a one-year period.
