APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Service Director, or designee,
to execute a contract amendment with Child Abuse Prevention Council of Contra Costa
County to increase the payment limit by $86,729 to a new payment limit of $656,141 for
child abuse prevention services, for the period July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$656,141: 1.5% State Family Preservation (70% State; 30% County); 3.2% State Child
Welfare Redesign; 6.8% Keller Landfill Grant; 10.7% Federal Promoting Safe and Stable
Families [93.556]; 18.7% Federal Comprehensive Assessment for Positive Family
Outcomes Grant (CAPFO) (100% Federal [92.670]); 34.7% State Substance Abuse/Human
Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Grant (56% State, 18.9% Federal [93.658], 26% County);
11.2% Community Care Licensing, Foster Care (34% State; 36% Federal [93.658]; 30%
County); 13.2% Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, CFDA #93.714).

BACKGROUND:
Contractor will direct and coordinate ongoing activities aimed at mobilizing community
resources and educating professionals and citizens to reduce the incidents of child abuse.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This contract supports all of the community outcomes established in the Children’s Report
Card: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children and Youth Healthy
and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”; 3) “Families that are Economically Self
Sufficient”; 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”; and 5) “Communities that are
Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families,” by providing services
to prevent child abuse and thus maintain the family.
