ADOPT Ordinance No. 2010-06 amending Section 33.5.375 of the County Ordinance code
to re-title the classification of Purchasing Services Manager to Procurement Services
Manager-Exempt and to exempt this class from the Merit System, as requested by the
General Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no cost associated with the re-titlement or exempting of this classification from the
Merit System.
BACKGROUND:
This classification is responsible for the direction of the County-wide procurement of goods
and services, development of cost effective purchasing programs, oversight of the County's
Small Business Administration, and negotiation of purchase contracts for equipment.
Additionally, this position formulates strategic procurement plans for the County,
continuously reviews the policies and procedures governing procurement, and maintains the
integrity of the public procurement process. It is recommended that this classification be
exempt. County Counsel amended the Ordinance as required for exempting this class,
