Chapman to the At-Large #2 seat on the Contra Costa Fire Protection District Fire Commission for a term expiring June 30, 2014, as recommended by the Internal Operations Committee. FISCAL IMPACT: None. BACKGROUND: The Commission for Fire Protection was established to review and advise on annual operations and capital budgets; to review district expenditures; to review and advise on long-range capital improvement plans; pursuant to district ordinance to serve as the Appeals Board on weed abatement matters; to advise the Fire Chief on district service matters; to meet jointly with the Board of Supervisors and provide advice to the board as needed; to communicate with the other fire district advisory commissions on services and functional integration; to assist in the Fire Chief's selection process as required; to serve as liaison between the Board of Supervisors and the community served by each district; to perform such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned APPROVE OTHER RECOMMENDATION OF CNTY ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE Action of Board On: 06/22/2010 APPROVED AS RECOMMENDED OTHER Clerks Notes: VOTE OF SUPERVISORS AYE:John Gioia, District I Supervisor Gayle B. The Commission consists of 7 members. Terms for all Commission seats are four years. On December 12, 2000, the Board of Supervisors approved a policy on the process for recruiting applicants for selected advisory bodies of the Board. This policy requires an open recruitment for all vacancies to At-Large seats appointed by the Board. The Board also directed that the IOC personally conduct interviews of applicants for At-Large seats on the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District's Fire Advisory Commission, the County Planning Commission, and the Board appointees to the County Employees' Retirement Board. On June 30, 2010, the term for the At-Large Commissioner #2 will expire. On behalf of the Internal Operations Committee, staff recruited earlier this year (March-May) to fill the vacancy. Two applications were received, and the IO Committee held interviews of the applicants on June 7, 2010.
