Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Randy Sawyer), to
execute, on behalf of the County, Grant Award #28-817 from Union Pacific Railroad, to pay
County an amount not to exceed $5,000, for the County’s Hazardous Materials Union
Pacific Railroad Tank Care Safety project, for the period from April 1, 2010 through May
31, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Acceptance of this award will result in $5,000 from Union Pacific Railroad for the County’s
Hazardous Materials Union Pacific Railroad Tank Care Safety project. No County funds are
required.
BACKGROUND:
Approval of grant award #28-817 will allow Union Pacific Railroad to grant funding to the
County’s Hazard Materials Division to support the Union Pacific Railroad Tank Care Safety
project. This project will allow County staff to attend three Emergency Response Training
sessions, at its facility Transportation Technology Center (TTCI) in Pueblo Colorado, to
receive training in “How to Respond to Rail Incidents”, including transportation cost, room,
