ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20802 to add one full-time Deputy Sheriff
(6XWA) position (represented) at salary level VHX-1688 ($5,451-6,791) in the Office of
the Sheriff-Coroner, Support Services Bureau - Forensic Services Division.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Cost of this action is 100% Federal FY09 Solving Cold Cases with DNA Program grant in
2009/10. Funded in the future by subsequent Federal grant awards. (CFDA No. 16.560)
BACKGROUND:
On December 8, 2009 the Board approved and authorized the Sheriff-Coroner to apply for
and accept the FY-09 Solving Cold Cases with DNA Program grant in an amount not to
exceed $454,944 for the period October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010 (Item C.31).
The grant was to fund two, full time Criminalist positions (also created on December 8,
2009, Item C.24) and two Deputy Sheriff-Per Diem positions. Since that time, the Sheriff's
Office has had difficulty retaining staff on a Per-Diem basis to give appropriate attention to
the investigation of cold cases. This
