Agency Funds (100%).
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this project is to provide the local community with an enhanced
recreational facility. The current recreational facility; Parkway Estates Park, is primarily
composed of turf areas, landscaping, pedestrian path, and a play structure on an
approximately 1,000 square foot lot. The park was built in 1998 and has gone without
improvements, except for vandalism repairs, since its creation. The County plans to
upgrade the park’s current facilities with negligible expansion, by improving and
expanding existing landscaping and repairing the pedestrian path along the north side of
the park. In addition, the County will install benches, a skateboard grind rail, and clean as
well as paint the play structure. As funding becomes available the play structure and
playground surfacing (rubber matting) will be replaced.
In order to minimize damage to any nearby trees, any roots exposed during excavation
will be cut cleanly and tree branches will be trimmed. No tree removal will be necessary.
Real property transactions and utility relocations may be necessary in support of this
project. At least one lane of traffic will be open at all times during construction activities.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Delay in approving the project will result in a delay of design and construction and may
jeopardize funding.
