HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05252010 - C.28RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution #2009/297 authorizing the Health Services Director, or his designee, (Wendel Brunner), to submit a funding application for Federal Emergency Shelter Grant Program funds, in an amount up to $200,000, to fund the Respite Interim Housing and Supportive Services Program, for fiscal years 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. FISCAL IMPACT: The funds requested of the Federal Emergency Shelter Grant Program (FESG) for fiscal year 2010-2011, 2011-2012 are essential to operations of the new Respite Interim Housing and Supportive Services Program. No additional County funds are required. BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department, Homeless Program seeks funding through the Department of Housing and Community Development’s Federal Emergency Shelter Grant (FESG) program, to support the operations of the respite housing program for the homeless. All will have medical and/or mental health needs that required a higher level of medical care ,which is currently not offered at the County Homeless Program’s or other shelter facilities, including more comprehensive medical care and follow-up, both private and semi private sleeping accommodations, and a lower staff to client ratio.
