BACKGROUND: Among the elements of the Board's 1985 Legislative Program is a proposal that the fee charged to persons ordered to attend a traffic violators ' school be increased from $10 to $20. This fee is retained by the court for the purpose of offsetting the cost of processing the paperwork necessary to have a person assigned to such schools. Assemblyman Dave Elder of Long Beach has introduced AB 283 which, among other provisions, provides for such a fee increase. Therefore, we recommend that the Board support AB 283 rather than seeking the introduction of separate legislation for this purpose.
