HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05252010 - C.21RECOMMENDATION(S): Adopt Position Resolution No. 20786 to reclassify Position No. 1205 and its incumbent from Administrative Services Assistant III (APTA), salary level ($5,371-6,520) to Administrative Services Officer (APDB), salary level ($5,878-7,906) in the Office of County Counsel, as recommended by the Assistant County Administrator-Director of Human Resources. FISCAL IMPACT: The total annual cost associated with this action will be a $5,508.00 which is within the department's budget. BACKGROUND: The Administrative Services Assistant (ASA) III to County Counsel performs a full range of analytical and managerial services in the areas of law office administration, fiscal, personnel, program, facilities, safety, and technology for the department. SHARP, Deputy cc: C.21 To:Board of Supervisors From:Ted Cwiek, Human Resources Director Date:May 25, 2010 Contra Costa County Subject:Reclassification Of County Counsel Administrative Services Assitant III To Administrative Services Officer BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) the day-to day administrative operations of the department and directly supervises the department's technical and legal support teams and coordinates legal support staff resources. The incumbent is also involved in all personnel issues for both attorneys and support staff, discipline, counselling and discharge. Additionally, in December, 2009 the newly appointed County Counsel reorganized the department and delegated to the ASA III additional administrative duties formerly performed by the Chief Assistant County Counsel, currently vacant. Human Resources conducted a classification desk audit to review the incumbent's current job duties and responsibilities. The resulting findings concluded a recommendation for reclassification to the Administrative Services Officer classification. This action is requested on the basis that the incumbent has assumed a level of independence and is performing higher-level responsibilities appropriate for the Administrative Services Officer classification. This action will be accomplished under provisions of the Personnel Management Regulations, Section 503 Promotion by Reclassification without Examination. Both the incumbent and the action proposed meet all requirements imposed by that Section. ATTACHMENTS P300 No 20786
