HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05182010 - C.60RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract with John Murdock and Associates, LLC, in an amount no to exceed $115,500 to provide specialized forensic services for the period May 1, 2010 through April 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: 13% County costs; $15,000. 87% City of Richmond; $100,500. Budgeted. BACKGROUND: The City of Richmond is in need of dedicated forensic services and training. Their casework most often is performed through the Sheriff's Office Forensic Services Division. The Sheriff's Office is in need of additional assistance in the Forensic Services Division. John Murdock is a world renowned forensic firearms expert and he is formerly the Chief of Forensic Services for the County. John Murdock and Associates will predominately conduct forensic casework and firearms comparison for City of Richmond cases using the County laboratory. He will also provide training for the City of Richmond and the County. He will also provide case consultation to the City of Richmond and to County. The City of Richmond will pay 87% of the contract.
