APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract
amendment with the City and County of San Francisco to increase the Contra Costa County
allocation of 2008 Urban Area Security Initiative grant funds by $35,450, from $1,845,261
to a new payment limit of $1,880,711 for communications interoperability management
with no change in the contract period.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No County Costs. $35,450 increase in revenue; 100% US Department of Homeland Security
2008 Urban Area Security Initiative Grant Program funding through the City and County of
San Francisco as fiscal agent. (CFDA#97.008)
BACKGROUND:
Urban Area Security Initiative Grant Program (UASI) funds address the unique planning,
equipment, training, and exercise needs of high threat, high density urban areas, and assist
them in building an enhanced and sustainable capacity to prevent, protect against, respond
to, and recover from acts of terrorism. California is home to five of these urban areas and the

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
of Homeland Security deginated the City and County of San Francisco as the fiscal agent
for the Bay Area UASI. The targeted UASI homeland security funding for the County is to
develop interoperable communications and an integrated records management system
between the County and other UASI members. The increased revenue will be used toward
interoperable communications project management.
