APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to purchase one
additional vehicle for the Health Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Health Services Department is purchasing one additional vehicle for an estimated
purchase cost of $31,192. The purchase will be made using grant funds awarded from the
Older American's Act-Title IIIC Senior Nutrition program. Terms of the grant require the
vehicle to be purchased by June 30, 2010. All operational costs will be covered by Title III
Older American's Act funds.
BACKGROUND:
The Health Services Department Senior Nutrition Program is purchasing one vehicle to be
used daily by the Contra Costa County Senior Nutrition Program Operations Manager to
monitor and direct program operations countywide. The program serves 2,000 meals daily to
seniors at eighteen Senior and Community Centers and via seventy-six Meals on Wheels
routes throughout the county, which are monitored regularly by Senior Nutrition Program
staff. The program also contracts with fifteen public and private nonprofit agencies and a
