BACKGROUND:
The Department's Community Services Bureau is applying for funding from California
Department of Community Services and Development (CA CSD) to continue the Clerical
Assistant Trainee (CAT) program for the term July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. This
program is currently funded by CA CSD through the Community Services

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Block Grant (CSBG) revenue contract for which the Board approved receipt on June 23,
2009.
The CAT program provides job training and on-the-job experience to low-income
individuals residing in Contra Costa County. Participants work approximately 32 hours per
week while also enrolled in local community college courses.
