APPROVE appointment of Daryl Louder to the position of Fire Chief, Contra Costa County
Fire Protection District; and
AUTHORIZE the Auditor-Controller to reimburse the new Fire Chief, Contra Costa County
Fire Protection District, Daryl Louder, for reasonable moving expenses incurred in
relocating to the Bay Area from Virginia, in a total amount not to exceed $10,000; and
AUTHORIZE the monthly vacation accrual of Mr. Louder to be at a the rate of twenty (20)
hours per month (240 hours annually) for the duration of his service with Contra Costa
County, in recognition of his many years of public service.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of these expenses are within the FY 2009-10 budget of the Fire Protection District.

Subject:Authorizing Relocation Assistance and Monthly Vacation Accrual for Fire Chief, Contra Costa County Fire
Protection District
BACKGROUND:
The County conducted an external recruitment from February - April 2010. As a result of
this recruitment, Mr. Louder accepted the position and officially will begin employment on
June 1, 2010. In order to accept the position, it is necessary for Mr. Louder to relocate to the
Bay Area from Virginia. A one-time reimbursement payment in an amount not to exceed
$10,000 is necessary to help defray moving expenses.
In addition, in recognition of Mr. Louder's many years of public service, his vacation
accrual will be at the rate of twenty (20) hours per month (240 hours annually) for the
duration of his service with Contra Costa County.
