Subject:ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20789
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
received an additional step within their salary range (a 6th Step) for each sworn
classification. At the same time, the Board of Supervisors approved a 2nd Step for the
classifications of Undersheriff-Exempt and Commander-Exempt to ensure that salary
compensation ratios remained consistent between classifications.
Upon implementation of the 2nd Step, it was found that salary compaction issues,
specifically between the Commander-Exempt classification and their subordinate class,
Captain were more pronounced. This action corrects for the compaction issue and returns
the classifications of Undersheriff-Exempt and Commander-Exempt back to the
traditional single step salary range.
