HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04272010 - C.41RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Medtox Laboratories, Inc., a Minnesota Corporation, in an amount not to exceed $225,000 to provide Child Welfare Mandated Drug Testing Services for the period July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: $225,000: 30% County; 70% State Child Welfare Allocation BACKGROUND: Medtox, Laboratories, Inc., was selected through the competitive bid process, Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 1107. Random substance abuse testing and Sweat Patch testing are court-required services and are ordered as part of the client service plan. Services include ensuring the availability of specimen collection sites in West, Central, and East regions of the County, screening test specimens using three different laboratory test systems, providing “on-demand” sample testing when requested by the County’s Employment and Human Services Social Worker, and providing monthly statistics for clients referred to substance abuse testing. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all of the community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”; 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient”; 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”; and 5) “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families.”
