Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner,
M.D.), to execute, on behalf of the County, Amendment Agreement #28-700-10 (State
#EPO 09-08, 02) with the California Department of Public Health, effective August 10,
2009, to amend payment to the County by $106,975 from $2,759,621 to a new total
payment limit not to exceed $2,866,596, for the Public Health Emergency Preparedness
Comprehensive Program, with no change in the original term of the Agreement from
August 10, 2009 through August 9, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Agreement will result in additional funds of $106,975, not to exceed a total
payment to County of $2,866,596 of funding for the Public Health Emergency Preparedness
Response Program. No County funds are required.
BACKGROUND:
On November 3, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement #28-700-7 (as
amended by Amendment Agreement #28-700-9) with the California Department of Public
Health for the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Comprehensive Program, for the

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
through August 9, 2010. This Agreement provided funding for multiple Public Health
Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) activities such as the Centers for Disease Control (CD)
and Prevention preparedness, the State General Fund (GF) Pandemic Influenza, the Cities
Readiness Initiative (CRI), Hospital Preparedness Program (HHP), CDC Public Health
Emergency Response (PHER), and the HHP H1N1.
Approval of Amendment Agreement #28-700-10 will provide additional funding to support
the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Comprehensive Program and to purchase
personal protective equipment through August 9, 2010.
